The 6 best Instagram spots in Madrid

Don’t you just love having Instagrammable pictures from your travels?
Being the sunshine city of Europe, Madrid has the perfect sights to shoot some very likeable Instagram pictures.
Let me take you with me to share my TOP 6 of best Instagram Spots in Madrid.

1. Edificio Metrópolis

The Metropolis Building is an office on the corner of Calle de Alcalá and the Gran Via. Originally designed by 2 architects who won a competition, the Metropolis Building is now one of the most popular buildings for sightseeing in Madrid.

2. Santa María la Real de La Almudena

The Almudena Cathedral is an impressive Catholic Church right next to the Royal Palace which truly has a lot of beautiful stairs and corners for pictures. If you are interested, you can even go into the building and take all of the gorgious decorations and details in. Unfortunately, taking pictures in the inside is not allowed.

Right next to the Almundena Cathedral you will also find the Royal Palace and Sabatini Gardens which are also very beautiful for picture taking (or just to relax).

3. Parque del Buen Retiro

Retiro Park is a magnificent park in the middle of busy madrid, with a very high Central Park level. It also is my favorite place to spend time in Madrid. The park (Buen Retiro) didn’t steal it’s name since it literally means pleasant solitude. The park offers a wide range of activities (from boat renting, group sports, to bars, outdoor fitnesses and so much more). And above all, entrance to the park is free. So if you ever find yourself in need of an escape of busy city life in Madrid, Retiro Park is the place to go.

4. Chueca

More than just a spot, Chueca is an entire district which is full of super cosy shops and bars and corners. It is very colorful and has a very happy vibe.

5. Plaza Mayor

Plaza Mayor, literally meaning big square, is a very open and symmetrical square in the heart of Madrid. Due to the festival of San Isidro, which took place in the middle of the square, I was unable to take any pictures here. But trust me when I say that this is a place you want to visit, whilst in Madrid. It also has a large range of bars and restaurants when you don’t feel like taking any pictures.

6. Picalagartos

I am a fond lover of Rooftop Bars in general, but in Madrid, there is one rooftop bar that makes all the others look insignificant: Picalagartos. A sky bar on top of the hotel NH in one of the most visited streets of Madrid.
Not only do they have a free entrance, but the drinks are affordable and the 360 degree views are breath-taking.

If the above hasn’t convinced you yet, I can only say this: Madrid has the most sunny days a year out of any other city in Europe AND food and wine cost about half the price compared to the food and wine in Belgium. The vibe is amazing, the architecture beautiful and the food is to die for.

What are you waiting for?
